HAYLEY

I cannot believe she has a key.

I stare back at my mother.

"What did you just hear?" I asked her, but her face says a lot.

"I heard and seen everything," she says. She walks into the room after closing the door behind her. She walks over to the bed.

"Hayley, what's going on?" She asks as she sits on my bed. I grab a hoodie to do the zip up.

"I have a boyfriend back home in Florida. We moved in together about five months ago," I said with a sigh. "We work together at the law firm back there."

She looks at me. "What about Theo?" She asks.

I look at her. "What about him?" I asked. I'm not telling her he's my mate.

"Hayley, you just seen you both have sex behind the guest house. You are lucky that Harrison didn't see you," she says in a hushed voice.

"I don't know, it just happened," I said, getting up and grabbing some night clothes from the closet.

I'm definitely not going back out there again tonight.

My mother watches me. "Theo's your mate, isn't he?" she says quietly.

I don't answer her.

"You need to come clean to him, break it off with..." she doesn't finish as I turn to glare at her. "I don't have to come clean to him. He is nothing to me. I will not break it off with Shane. I love him," I shout. "You have no right to tell me what I should and shouldn't do; I am old enough to make up my own mind."

My mother looks at me, stunned. "I never brought you up to be like this Hayley, You can't string both men along. Theo deserves..." she says, but I cut her off. "I don't care what Theo deserves, he doesn't deserve me," I lash out. "I think you best leave," I said, feeling angry.

My mother glares at me and gets up. She walks to the door but stops suddenly. "What the hell happened to my little girl?" She says quietly.

"She grew up," I shouted.

With that, she goes through the door and leaves, closing it behind her.

My eyes are brimmed with tears. I never have spoken to my mother like that, not enough when I was younger.

I sit back on my bed and pull my legs up to my chest.

I look at my phone. It lights up with an email from Shane.

I can't believe I have to do some work, but I can't look at it.

I stay on the bed for a while, trying not to think, but after a little while, there is a knock at the door.

I got up thinking it was Harrison or my mum, but it wasn't.

I can smell his scent as I come closer. I stop by the door.

"Hayley, please open the door," Theo asks. "I want to talk to you; I want to know what I did."

I stare at the door with my hand on the door handle. I sigh and pull it open.

Theo leans on the door frame, his eyes connecting with mine. "Please Hayley, I want..." but I cut him off. "I can't do this Theo, I have a boyfriend."

There was a loud growl. "MINE," he says and opens the door wider but I stand my ground "No, I'm not yours," I say, sounding very unconvincing.

He leans in further, his scent wraps me once again. "Hayley, we are mates...."

I shake my head at him. "YOU HURT ME," I shouted.

He looks back at me, stunned. "Hayl, what do you mean I hurt you?" He asks.

"You have heard me twice. Prom night, I came late to meet you. Some stupid bitch tipped a drink over my dress. I was late coming to meet you, but when I got there, you had your tongue down Carly's throat," I said to him. Theo looks at me. "Hayl, I didn't..." but I shake my head. "Leave me the fuck alone. I don't want you here," I say.

I push him through the door and close it on him, turning my back to the door sliding down till my ass hits the cold wet floor.

I know he is still out there.

I can hear him breath against the door.

"Please Hayley, let me explain," he says in a pleading voice. "I didn't mean for it to happen."

I feel tears slide down my face.

Suddenly I could hear someone whispering to him. They were telling Theo to leave me alone, and I needed space.

I don't get up off the floor for a while.

I can hear the party going on in the background outside.

I shouldn't have come here.

I knew I shouldn't have.

Theo doesn't know I came here twice before. I wanted to see him. I was going to talk to him, but when I got to the pack house; he was fucking someone in his room. Hearing the girl call out his name, I still had no clue he was my mate as I was still seventeen at the time, but I needed to tell him. But as soon as I heard that, I left.

I knew Harvey would be here tomorrow.

He knew all about it and what happened, also dad did too.

Harrison and mum don't know as I begged Dad and Harvey not too, hence why Harvey lives near me.

Harvey came when I needed help; he came and stayed with me. He knew coming back here was going to be hard for me, but I didn't personally realize how hard it was going to be.

After what seemed like an hour on the cold floor, I moved away from the door and locked it.

I walk over to the bed and grab my phone.

There was a message from Harvey:

"Hope you are okay and everything went alright. I will be there in the morning when you wake up."

I smile at the message.

I'm glad my brother is coming back. We both work at the same law firm and he was the one who set me up with Shane.

I grab my night stuff and head into the bathroom.

I was going to have a long soak in the bath and then climb into bed, sleep away from everything that had just happened. RUTH

I can't believe she just shouted at me.

I'm her mother. I knew she never wanted to come back, but I missed my daughter so much.

Harvey and her father visited her when she moved, but I couldn't bring myself to go as I was busy here in the pack house and I never like traveling, anyway.

But I can't believe she has a boyfriend that she never told me about.

I walked back into the house; my face must have said a whole load as Summer came up to me. "Ruth, what's wrong?" she asks.

I look at her. "Well, Hayley and I argued, which, as you know, is normal and she has a boyfriend back at home which I knew nothing about," I say. "Oh, and I caught Theo and Hayley having sex behind the guest house and they are also mates which she doesn't want."

Summer looks at me, stunned. "A boyfriend?" she says. "We all had our suspicions that Theo and Hayley were mates, so that is no surprise to us but a boyfriend."

I look at my daughter's friend. "You didn't know?" I ask her but Summer's face gives it all away. She never knows that her best friend has a boyfriend.

Alpha Jacob comes to Summer's side. "Hayley has been gone for five years, things have changed but I think we should give her some space and she can tell us all about this man," he says gritting his teeth around the man's word. Summer nods, but I can't get it out of my head that she never told me, saying that we were never close. She would always talk to Summer or her father and Harvey, leaving Harrison and me out of the whole thing.

It god damn hurt that she would do that, but I guess I never really thought about it until Patrick was gone.

"I'm going to have a break. I'm going to my room," I say as I turn on my heel. "I need to have a rest."

They both looked at me and nodded. "We will get everyone to leave. Maybe tomorrow's party will brighten up the mood and Hayley will open up to all of us," says Summer with a smile.

I can't even smile back, as I know Hayley won't open up to me.

I turn around and leave, heading straight to my room.

My wolf howling in pain as we both want to make sure our pup is okay, but something tells me there is more to all this with Hayley.
