Chapter 998
The next morning, Trevor woke up to the beautiful lady quietly snuggled up in his arms. He stroked her hair gently, and gave her a gentle kiss on her forehead. That must be the definition of a wonderful life!
He couldn't help but to sigh after he thought of something. He was still the lucky one!
Just as he closed his eyes, a strange feeling came from his body. The next second, his mind was filled with rage, and he gritted his teeth, but couldn't control himself. "Mmm..." he moaned.
D*mn it!
Trevor was aroused, and he couldn't control himself. He turned over and lowered his head, but caught sight of the glaring white bedsheets, and clenched his fist immediately. D*mn it! What was he doing?
He must've been crazy!
Trevor turned back, and took a deep breath. He moved her hand away slowly, and got out of the bed at once.
Forget it! He decided to go take a jog.
After a quick shower in the bathroom, Trevor left the room. As soon as he walked down the stairs, he realized that they were at the hospital, and that he wasn't very familiar with the surrounding. He sighed, and chose the route with the least people and started jogging. After jogging for a while, he searched for some restaurants nearby. Then, he planned his route according to the time, and carried on with his journey. Before taking the taxi back to the hospital, he went to a well-known breakfast shop and bought some breakfast. As he walked out of the elevator, he ran into Holger, who was standing in the hallway. He seemed to be telling the bodyguards something. Was there a meeting that day? Why was he there so early?
"If there are any new doctors or nurses recently, you have to check their identities with the doctorin-charge. If you're not sure about their identities, do not let them enter the ward! If anyone questions about it, say that they're instructions from Master Trevor. Do you hear me?" he said. "Yes, sir!" the bodyguard said.
Trevor frowned, and walked over. "What's the matter? Is something wrong? Did you come early on purpose?"
Holger turned around, and was stunned, as if he didn't expect Trevor to be right behind him. He took a deep breath, and then said,
"Good morning, Trevor! Oh... I just got up earlier today, so I came to see if I had to send you to work!"
"Alright..." Trevor said.
Trevor thought that it was strange, as he rarely saw Holger panic. He glanced in the direction of the bodyguard, and then asked,
"Did you come across something?"
Why else would he give such instructions, and even in Trevor's name? Trevor didn't give him those instructions at all, so it just seemed weird all of a sudden, even though it was for the sake of his safety.
Holger explained, "It's nothing! It's just that when I came to hospital yesterday, I saw someone pretending to be doctor and causing trouble in the hospital, and he almost killed a patient! So I thought that I should remind them to do so just in case! Wasn't Miss Alicia's accident caused by a medical error from the hospital too? There are too many workers here, I just thought that we have to be more careful!"
"Okay, that's very thoughtful of you!" Trevor said.
He recalled the incident involving Frederick and
Alicia. He wasn't sure about the details, but he had heard about it from others, and he couldn't help but to sigh.
Trevor looked at his watch, and held up the breakfast he had bought.
He said, "Well, you're just in time to have breakfast with us! Vicky should be awake now, we can go eat with her together! By the way, remember not to tell her about the things that had happened there! Do not spill anything about it!"
The situation was already bad enough, and he didn't want to get her involved. There were too many crises at home lately. It was already enough for him to worry about it.
"Don't worry, I'll remember it! I've already had my breakfast. Trevor, I'll wait for you downstairs! I have to give my family a call..." Holger said.
"That's good too!" Trevor said.
He handed him a container of porridge and said, "It's the signature porridge from a breakfast shop nearby. I bought extras!"
"Okay! Thank you!" Holger said.
Later on, the two of them parted ways with smiles on their faces.
Being locked up in the detention center gave
Frederick a rare chance to take a rest. Apart from not being able to move around freely, he had been well taken care of, and was also given the chance to do anything he wanted to whether it was inside or outside of the centre.
He didn't really enjoy talking in the past, but after holding his emotions in for so many days, he actually started to feel lonely for the first time after the initial peacefulness.
As he walked his dog in the yard, he missed the woman who had passed away more and more.
Frederick walked in circles. Staring up at the blue sky, he couldn't help but to sigh, "Ally..."
Why were the happy times so short? How was he going to spend the rest of his life alone? Why wasn't he being given more time? Why...
All of a sudden, he heard a sound. "Woof, woof, woof!"
The barking of the puppy came from below him. He opened his eyes and squatted down, than ruffled the puppys soft fur.
"Did you bark because you noticed that I was missing you? It was indeed a right choice having you in here!" he said.
He used to think that animals were dumb and silly, and they talked to themselves all the time. Yet, at that moment, Fredrick realized that having a living being next to him indeed helped with his loneliness.
"Unfortunately, you won't be able to tell me anything, even if you understand my words and my feelings..." Dogs were still dogs, and they wouldn't be able to communicate with humans.
As soon as he was done speaking, the puppy barked again, "Woof woof..."
Fredrick suddenly came back to his senses, and saw the puppy striding around his feet with it's head raised up. The puppy even sat down every once in a while, as if it could understand what he was saying. The silly but adorable behavior of the puppy did resemble her personality.
He carried the puppy into his arms and said, "No wonder she likes you so much, Dotter!"
As Frederick muttered, his eyes started to redden and tear up.
He carried the puppy and walked another two rounds to get more fresh air, then returned to the room. Then, he arranged the information that Chet had reported to him previously, and took out the notes that he had made. There were a few symbols on the notes that only he could understand, and he made some adjustments and added some markings to them.
The information that Chet had
reported to him were extremely important, and he was required to make immediate decisions on them. His life in the detention centre was pretty much the same as his life at home. It was just that he was working in a different environment. Nevertheless, working in this place meant that a lot of things were limited, and he couldn't just do
anything he wanted to.
His days passed by in a daze, and Frederick could only remember that Chet had came by a few times, but he couldn't even differentiate the dates anymore.
Frederick was only a wall away from the outside world. However, everyone outside was busy fighting for his freedom and his rights, while Fredrick had to deal with a few hours of boredom each day.
Technically speaking, Frederick was
only a suspect who was cooperating with the police for the investigation, so he was treated differently. As he could no longer endure the boredom, he requested for them to send him a treadmill, as the field was
too small for him run around. He received special treatment again, and the treadmill became an effective tool to kill his boredom since then.
For two days in a row, Fredrick's heart couldn't be at peace and wasn't able to sleep soundly. The
minute he woke up in the morning he went for a jog on the treadmill again until his body was soaked in
sweat. Then, he returned to
the
room to take a shower. All of a
sudden, he heard the sound of hurried but familiar footsteps coming from outside.
Chet?
