CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1576

"Wilfred?" Nina froze for a moment, then her face lit up with a genuine, radiant smile.

Wilfred glanced at Gemma beside her and returned the smile. "It's been a long time since I've seen you." "Are you here to see Charlie? I noticed the medical kit in your hand."

"No, I came to deliver some medication for Jamie."

Wilfred explained briefly, mentioning that Jamie had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Hearing this, Nina's face clouded with worry, and she immediately wanted to visit Jamie to check on her.

Wilfred reassured her, "Don't worry. Her condition is much more stable now. While this illness can be serious, it's not as bad as it sounds. Her sister's death was a severe blow, combined with other factors, that triggered it." "That's a relief," Nina said, visibly relaxing.

They chatted for a bit, and Wilfred's gaze softened as he asked, "How have you been lately?"

"I'm doing well. What about you?" Nina paused, then smiled in return.

"The hospital keeps me busy, but things are better than before," he replied.

"That's good. You're always busy, unlike me. I just worry about trivial things all day, whether it's Gemma or Orion at home, neither is easy to handle," she said with a playful sigh.

Despite her words, the smile on her face couldn't be hidden.

It was obvious to anyone that Nina was living a happy life.

Wilfred felt a twinge of bittersweet emotion, part envy, part contentment. Seeing her happiness made him smile, and the warmth in his expression made him seem gentle and approachable. In the end, he watched her leave, holding Gemma's hand.

Their figures faded into the distance as he stood there for a long time, gazing after them.

When they disappeared from sight, he glanced at the sky, blinking away the sting in his eyes before pulling himself back to his detached, professional self as Dr. Wilfred.

Later, Wilfred delivered the medication but didn't get to see Jamie.

Ben, however, greeted him with a much softer attitude than usual.

Wilfred had earned Ben's respect as Charlie's primary physician, the one who had saved Charlie's life.

Wilfred explained his visit. "Charlie'

arlie's

condition has stabilized, and he's ready to be discharged. From now on, he'll be fine to travel and attend school."

"Discharged early?"

"Yes. We've moved it up by two weeks. His recovery has been better than expected."

This was one of the few pieces of good news Ben had received in a while.

The coldness in Ben's demeanor faded, revealing a softer, more vulnerable side.

Wilfred didn't stay long and prepared to leave after sharing the update. As he reached the door, he paused and glanced back.

"There's something I want to say,

just as a personal observation. Jamie might not be as indifferent to you as you think. It all depends on what you do."

With that, Wilfred left.

Ben's eyes darkened as he contemplated those words.

The next day, Ben began making arrangements for Charlie's preschool enrollment. Armed with this excuse, he headed to Jamie's place. When the doorbell rang, Jamie was surprised. "Who is it? Coming!"

When she opened the door and saw the tall figure standing there, she almost thought she was hallucinating.

Charlie, now discharged, came running over, his face lighting up when he saw Ben.

"Uncle Ben!"

"Not going to invite me in?" Ben asked, his deep eyes like a black hole, drawing her in.

Although their last interaction had been tense, Jamie couldn't bring herself to turn him away with Charlie right there.

Besides, Ben had done so much for them. It wouldn't be right to treat him poorly.

Reminding herself to be reasonable, she stepped aside and let him in.

No one was happier about Ben's arrival than Charlie. His excitement was palpable as he pulled Ben to the couch and had him sit down.

"I'll get you something!" Charlie

announced enthusiastically. He soon returned with a plate of roughly cut orange slices, proudly presenting his handiwork.

"Uncle Ben, have some," he said, pushing the plate forward with the air of someone sharing a culinary masterpiece.
