Darn Stupid Brother You Are

Chapter 3

(Angel's POV)

We finished eating breakfast and were sent to a lifetime imprisonment of boring lectures talking about the rules and regulations of the camp.

I almost slept off until a particular rule of 'no late-night partying' caught my attention.

I laughed inwardly. Was it, not this same centre that Hande was talking about an underground party?

How did they think they could hold youths hostage and not expect to see things like that?

The lecture finally came to an end and I suddenly felt like sleeping.

I walked into my room to lie on my bed when Hande shouted in her loudest voice.

"Who's ready for tonight?"

"Shhhhh!" Dilara cautioned her.

"You heard the rules." She added.

"I didn't hear anything." Hande stated unfazed. "Tell me who's ready. Are you guys going?" She asked, turning to each of us.

I nodded my head in agreement. "I will," I told her.

"Same here." Dilara and Charlotte echoed.

"I won't be staying in the room alone, so yeah." Cylan joined in.

"I hope it's worth it though," Cylan added with the most pessimistic tone I've ever heard. It almost made me rethink my choices.

Since everyone had made up their mind for the party, Hande started to suggest outfits we could wear. I got bored and decided to call my mum. "Hi, mum." I greeted her as soon as she picked up the call.

"Hi. Why are you calling? Don't you have a lecture to attend?" She asked, sounding uninterested.

"We're done with lectures for today. I just wanted to ask how you're doing." I told her.

"That's none of your business. The only person you should be looking out for is Hendrix." She stated.

My heart broke at her words. My mum wasn't the usual caring and sweet kind of mum. She was more of the stoic and unresponsive kind.

The more I try to initiate a mother and daughter moment, the more she pushes me away. I never really understood why.

"Is that Angel?" I heard Traviv ask in the background.

"Yeah, she's saying some shit about calling to ask how I'm doing. Thinks she can blackmail me into allowing her back into this house." Dennis answered. "Can I speak to her? Hendrix hasn't called since he got there." He asked my mum.

"Whatever." My mum responded and gave him the phone.

"Hi, Angel." He greeted me.

"Hi, Traviv," I responded. I hadn't resolved to call him 'Dad' and just the thought of it still made me uncomfortable. Thankfully, he never complained. "Can I speak to Hendrix, please?" He asked me.

"We don't share the same hostel. He's in the male hostel." I answered.

"Oh, I didn't think about that. I hope you guys are doing fine?" He asked me.

"I'll tell him to call you when he can," I responded, ignoring his wellness check, and hung up.

I noticed my roommates had all picked their outfits for tonight except me.

It made me remember how Hendrix and I usually sneaked out of the house to parties.

We would plan our outfits throughout the day and wait until our parents were asleep before jumping out of the window and making our way to our party destination. Those were the good ol' days.

We eventually grew distant when he started to show a different kind of personality, started to get attracted to other girls, and had a different group of friends altogether.

I checked my box for a good outfit to wear and settled with a mini skirt and sweater.

"That sweater looks boring. We're going for a party, not a conference." Hande stated.

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes as she ransacked my box searching for a perfect top.

"You know what, I'll just give you one of mine." She said in exhaustion after discovering I had nothing slutty to wear.

She walked to her wardrobe and searched through it before throwing me a piece of clothing.

"This should fit." She stated.

I examined the cloth and tried it on. It was a polyester playsuit that ended just underneath my buttocks.

"It's very exposing and I can't wear a bra underneath it because of the opening at the back," I complained. "That's the whole point of the outfit babe." She stated.

I watched as Cylan licked her lips as she stared at my butt cheeks.

"I can't wear this." I objected.

"Chill, babe. You look fire in it." Cylan stated.

"Take it from a tomboy lesbian," Hande said to me with a wink.

"Fine." I started and reluctantly accepted the cloth.

Evening came and we waited until it was lights out before starting our journey.

"The secret room is close to the receptionist's office. We have to leave the hostel." Hande whispered.

I picked up my phone to call Hendrix but decided on a second thought that I would call him after I reached there to give him a detailed direction.

We opened our door slowly to avoid the loud screeching sound it usually makes and trailed behind Hande as she led us.

We came across a security guard who had a halogen lamp. We quickly rushed to hide behind the hallway door to ensure we weren't caught.

As soon as he was away, we came out and continued our journey.

"Aren't we there yet?" I heard Charlotte, panic evident in her voice. It was the first time I heard her speak English. Although, with a solid French accent. "We're close," Hande assured her.

We took the last turn to the receptionist's office and opened the door that was meant to be the door to the secret room.

To our disappointment, there was nobody there. It was just a dark messy room with a lot of cobwebs and spiders.

"It has to be here somewhere," Hande stated, looking around for hints of a party going on.

"There's nothing here, dummy," Cylan said, visibly angry.

"Let's calm down, girls. Our voices are getting louder." Dilara cautioned them.

"Let's check over there." She added, pointing at a door with a hint of light shining from within the room.

We tiptoed to the door and Dilara attempted to open it but it was locked.

"Maybe we should knock," I suggested.

Hande knocked lightly on the door but there was no response.

We decided to look into the room through the window and found out it was a private library for the workers.

We were more than disappointed.

"We risked it all for this?" An annoyed Cylan asked.

"Unfortunately." An unfamiliar voice answered behind us.

We turned around to find the camp counsellor staring angrily at us.
