Chapter 1096
"Alright, folks, let's go and share the good news with Ms. Flora!"
The noise was so loud that Jules couldn't help but notice it too.
On high alert, the special forces quickly aimed their guns at the rustling bushes nearby.
Just as they were about to pull the trigger, Flora intervened, "Hold your fire, they're on our side." Wait, what?
The soldiers hesitated, briefly confused.
On our side?
Moss and Beck emerged from the bushes, dragging captives with them. "Ms. Flora, we've rounded them all up," Moss announced with a cheeky grin.
Flora gave a nod, her voice calm and collected, "Well done."
Beck beamed with pride, practically glowing from the praise.
"Ms. Flora, we've got Kruiz out safely. He's just a bit banged up, nothing serious. We've already sent him to the hospital."
Flora nodded again and turned to the soldiers, "Let your captain know it's time to regroup."
The soldiers were still processing everything when they instinctively nodded and reached for their phones. However, before they could make the call, their captain, Colin, beat them to it. "Flora, I've got some bad news," Colin's voice was tense. "It seems there was another group involved with Kruiz. By the time we arrived, someone else had already made the rescue." With the call on speakerphone, everyone heard him.
All eyes turned to Flora.
With a composed expression, Flora closed her laptop and handed it over to Jules.
"Hello?"
Puzzled by the silence, Colin asked, "What's happening over there?"
The soldier, looking a bit conflicted, replied, "The team that rescued Kruiz was Ms. Flora's."
Colin was speechless for a moment.
"Kruiz is already at the hospital, and Ms. Flora's crew has taken care of the kidnappers. You can head back now."
After a pause, Colin finally muttered, "Alright," clearly questioning his own decisions.
Flora stood up, "Since Kruiz is safe, I'll be off now."
"Boss, let me walk you out!" Jules quickly packed his laptop into his backpack.
Leo and Holden scrambled to follow, nobody daring to stop her.
They watched as she departed with Moss and Beck trailing behind.
As they stepped out of the forest onto a narrow road, a sleek black Maybach awaited them.
Connor, standing by the car, looked sharp in his long black coat, his demeanor cool and collected. But as soon as he spotted Flora, his stern gaze softened into a warm smile.
He strode up to her, and Flora dashed into his embrace. "Connor!"
Connor's lips curled upwards as he gently stroked her hair. "Let's head home." "Okay."
With Moss and Beck settling into the driver's and passenger's seats, Connor opened the rear door for Flora. Once she was seated, he joined her, signaling Moss to get the car moving.
Jules and the others were left in the dust, unnoticed.
"Is that guy Flora's boyfriend?" Leo couldn't resist gossiping. "They really do look like they were made for each other."
Jules shot him a sidelong glance. This kid's got a knack for focusing on the juicy stuff, even now.
"Who taught you to be so
disrespectful? Jules lightly cuffed the back of Leo's head, his tone a mix of annoyance and slight amusement. Leo quickly backed down, realizing he might be in for a scolding.
