Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right

Chapter 821

Drake wasn't engaged to Yvonne. That was a curveball Debra hadn't seen coming.

She couldn't recall any connections between Drake and the Eaton family, but once again, things were diverging from her past life.

"Debra?" Andrew's voice snapped her back to reality.

She blinked. "Sorry."

"Since Marion is here, you can share what you found out at the Lowe family's," he said.

Debra nodded, grabbing a pen and paper from the table. "After Drake took me, I played the abandoned fiancée card and gained his trust. I got a list of names and discovered that the third floor of their casino was a front for a prostitution ring. Drugs might be involved too." She scribbled down the names and sketched out the casino's third floor. Andrew scanned the list, his expression grave. These were Orkgate's elite, families who'd been in bed with the Lowes for years. Many of these businesses were not above board, and this list looked quite convincing.

"Drake must trust you so much that he gave you such an important list," Andrew commented.

Debra shrugged. "He's just overconfident, thinking I can't touch him even if I know his secrets."

The Lowe family had dominated Orkgate for many years, and Drake's confidence wasn't entirely misplaced. Moreover, he had always looked down on women. He never imagined Debra could pose any real threat to his empire.

Andrew nodded. "I'll figure out our next move."

Marion cut in, sounding impatient. "Is that all?"

Andrew glanced at him. "Yes, for now. You two can head out if you need to."

Debra blushed, but Marion took her hand and said to Andrew, "Keep that scandal under wraps. It's been a thorn in my side."

Debra looked puzzled, but Andrew understood immediately. The headlines about him taking Debra to the Potter Mansion were still fresh.

"Got it," he replied.

Back in their bedroom, Marion shut the door and pressed Debra against the wall.

His gaze was intense, making her cheeks flush.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

"You're a knockout, and every Tom, Dick, and Harry out there wants a piece of you. Guess I'll have to keep you locked away." "That's nonsense," Debra laughed, swatting his chest.

She tried to squirm away, but Marion scooped her up effortlessly.

"You know," he said, his voice a low rumble, "Andrew was right. Absence makes the heart grow fonder."

"Marion, put me down," Debra protested, but her laughter betrayed her.

Marion laid her gently on the bed, his kisses trailing down from her forehead. "I missed you, Debra. No more talk of work tonight." Debra melted into his embrace, her worries and fears dissolving like sugar in hot tea.

Being around Drake had been like tiptoeing through a minefield, but here, in Marion's arms, she was safe She was home, falling into a deep, dreamless sleep.

The next morning, Marion was summoned by Andrew to strategize against Drake.
