Chapter 429
Facing Brian's sneer, Fletcher spoke in a gravelly tone, "It was Stuart who wronged her." Everyone turned to Fletcher, thinking he had lost his mind for saying Stuart had wronged Morwenna. Stuart had wronged plenty of people, but to think that Morwenna had the audacity to betray him was unthinkable.
As Stuart's close friends, they naturally sided with him. Even Matthew thought Fletcher was talking nonsense. Even if Stuart had done something to wrong Morwenna, she shouldn't have betrayed Stuart's trust.
Brian felt Fletcher had gone off the deep end. They were brothers in arms for so many years, and yet here he was, taking a woman's side. He was about to let loose a biting remark when Jack held him back, shaking his head.
Jack, the calm and collected ex-military man, broke the tension, "Alright, let's talk about this later. Right now, we need to find Stuart."
Samuel chimed in, "Yeah, let's not argue. Finding Stuart is what's important."
When the typically reserved ones spoke up, the debate over Morwenna ceased. Brian swallowed his anger, knowing this wasn't the time.
"That woman dared to betray Stuart; she'll get what's coming to her," he muttered darkly. Seeing everyone eager to join the search, Matthew quickly added, "Count me in, too."
With everyone itching to set out, Fletcher shook his head, "Going into the wilderness to find Stuart with a big group isn't wise. Jack and I should go. Jack knows the terrain, and I know Stuart. We'll take a few skilled survival experts with us. In places like these, danger lurks around every corner, and having too many people can actually be a liability."
Despite their disagreement over Morwenna, they trusted Fletcher's judgment on other matters. He was the most level-headed and thoughtful among them.
Seeing no objections, Fletcher laid out the plan. "Alright, that's settled then. Jack and I will go look for Stuart. We'll have a team on standby at the outskirts, fully equipped to ensure safety."
"You three stay in Rosefrost Hollow. Matthew, you handle the media narrative. Samuel and Brian, you two join forces to put pressure on the Hetfields and their troublemakers. Let them know that even without Stuart, they can't turn the world upside down."
Everyone nodded, agreeing this was the best course of action. Jack, with his special forces background, and Fletcher, who knew Stuart best, were the right choices for the search. Matthew, a star with sway over public opinion, along with Samuel and Brian, two influential businessmen, could easily cause headaches for Phineas Hetfield.
Plans quickly set, they sprang into action. Stuart's friends were truly loyal, willing to go to great lengths for him. Stuart might not trust anyone completely, even Fletcher
and the others, but they tret
him
wholeheartedly. They had all life-and-death situations before, sayed by Stuart at critical moments. Whether Stuart acted out of genuine concern or for his own interests didn't matter. He had pulled them out of the fire, and they were ready
to do the same for him.
The Wilderness was so named because it remained unconquered by man. It was a place even seasoned explorers hesitated to enter, where one false step could be fatal.
