The large ballroom is extraordinarily opulent, with delicate white palace lamps hanging from the clean white ceiling, with faintly twitching crystal tassels dangling from the lamps, against a floor of overlapping light and shadows, giving the room a misty trance-like feel.

Classical music plays unhurriedly in the hall.

The guests who came to the appointment were all rich and famous.

Noblewomen in bejewelled dresses, or gentlemanly men, elegant and lively celebrities, gathered to talk and buzz.

Dressed in a dark blue Tang suit and leaning on a dragon head cane, Master Khan stood at the entrance of the banquet hall to greet his guests, accompanied by Edgar.
