Misguided Vows: Chapter 24
I rest my hand on her knee, gliding my thumb up her inner thigh as I let her work. I’m driving us to meet with my lawyer, who I’ve spent all morning with, putting all my affairs in order.
She’s been reading the same page on her tablet for the last five minutes, and I’m certain it has something to do with my thumb that continues rolling over her jeans, but she doesn’t say anything, as I’m on speaker with one of my men.
Tracking is how I made my fortune, but it doesn’t mean I haven’t invested my wealth in other avenues of businesses all across the world. This particular venture is based back home in London.
I don’t often deal with issues personally, since I’ve hired the right people to handle things for me, but because of a recent fire that burned one of my buildings to the ground, we have to go over some finer details.
Being completely honest, I’m only half listening, as the only thing I can focus on is how good Alina’s pussy tastes. By the time I’ve finished with the call we’ve already reached the airstrip.
“You’ve been staring at that same page for a while. Eavesdropping on my call?” I ask with a smirk.
“No. But… isn’t it serious that one of your buildings burned to the ground?”
I shrug as I stop on the tarmac. “Not really. No one was hurt, and I just put more money in for it to be rebuilt. Worried about my fortune, love?”
She folds her arms over her chest and looks away. “You wish. The only thing I care about is you holding up your end of the bargain.”
I can tell she’s still doesn’t believe I’ll go through with giving her the plane. I may be many things, but a liar I’m not. And I’m curious as to what this little vixen plans to do with it.
“Shall we go transfer the plane into your name, or would you like to bounce on my cock again?” I ask, readjusting myself. Her gaze immediately drops to my cock, and she bites her bottom lip before looking away. I chuckle, loving the way she can’t help herself. She’s attracted to me just as much as I am to her, and I thought last night would be enough to get her out of my system. But I haven’t had nearly enough.
I step out of the car and go around to her side to open the door. I offer my hand, and she seems hesitant to hold it but does. We walk toward the airstrip’s office, where I know my lawyer will be waiting.
When I spot him, I don’t drop Alina’s hand.
“You have the contracts?” I ask my lawyer, who stands to attention and adjusts his suit when he sees us.
“Yes. Strange requests, but it’s all here,” he says, pointing to the papers. The moment Alina walked out of my room last night and I jacked off one more time when she left me high and dry, I called him to put him to work on this immediately. Black rings circle under his eyes as he pushes the contract across the table. I’ve already gone over the virtual copy, and so I pass it to Alina.
We haven’t even sat down and she’s already wide-eyed.
“The plane is yours.” I nod to the paperwork. “Sign it and it’s a done deal.”
She licks her lips as she takes a seat. “Are you really giving me your plane?” She looks between me and the lawyer, and I smirk as I take a seat beside her. She pushed for this, and yet is in disbelief that’s happening.
I lean in and whisper, “Yes. A bet is a bet. But I’m not against earning brownie points, and perhaps that sweet pussy of yours milking my cock again.”
The lawyer clears his throat. “I’ll remove myself for the time being while you go over the contract together.”
Alina’s cheeks are bright red as he leaves. “Why would you say that in front of him?”
“Because I can, Alina, and I don’t care. The only person I focus my attention on in this room is you.”
Her breath hitches, and I notice how uncomfortable she is. She always resists me if I say things like that. And I like how it makes her squirm.
“Can you afford to give me this plane? If this is going to make you broke or—”
I laugh and pout. “I could easily afford twenty of these. I can see you second guessing yourself. Are you telling me your pussy isn’t worth millions?”
Her cheeks go red again, as if we still have an audience.
I lean toward her, guiding her hand and pen. “All you have to do is sign.” She smells good and fuck me if it’s not tempting to fuck her all over again. “You know your worth. Don’t second guess it again,” I tell her in a hushed tone.
“I know my worth.” I see the spark and challenge coming back to life in her. “But I’ll read the fine print first, thank you very much.”
I smirk. “Please do. I’ll wait.”
As she reviews the contract, my phone begins buzzing in my pocket, and my forehead crinkles at the name that appears on the screen.
“I just need to take this call,” I tell her, then step out of the room and wave for my lawyer to go back in, in case she has any questions.
I might’ve been okay with answering the previous call in the car, but this one has no place for Alina overhearing.
When I’m outside, I answer the call. “Thomas, this is unexpected. What’s it been, seven years?”
“William. I need your help,” he says breathlessly. “My daughter’s gone missing.”
My stomach drops at the frantic tone of my old colleague’s voice. He’s the only person from my past I’d answer a call from because he was the only person who helped me back then. But it isn’t enough to motivate me to leave Alina’s side. I’m determined to see this through.
“Have you gone to the local authorities? What have you done to search for her?” I ask, because Thomas was effective in his own way at hunting people down.
“Please, Will. I can’t find her. It’s been a week. I’m begging you.” His voice cracks.
“Are you sure she hasn’t run away? People go missing all the time—”
“Don’t you dare recite the stats for disappearances to me. Come on, Will, please. You, of all people, know what it feels like to lose a loved one. I’m calling in the favor.” My heart sinks as he brings back my demons. Of ghosts, I’ve been running away from for so many years.
But I also remember the insufferable desperation to find them before it’s too late. And sometimes—more often than not—it is. I lick my lips and look back toward the building where Alina waits for me.
“Please, Will. You’re my last resort. No matter your price, I’ll pay it.”
I know Thomas doesn’t have the money to pay my rates, but he is one of the few to whom I owe a sliver of loyalty because he was one of the few who was with me back then.
“Send me all the information you have so far,” I say.
“Thank you, Will. Thank you.” He chokes on a sob, and I grind my jaw, listening to the tears that are about to break this man who was never moved by much.
I hang up and fight back the ghosts of my past. Of a woman I once loved, who was taken from me far too soon.
Why now is she coming back to haunt me when I’ve been able to outrun the pain for so long?
I pocket my phone and walk back into the office. My lawyer and the plane salesmen are smiling and chatting idly with Alina.
She notices immediately when I enter. “Are you sure you can afford this before I sign on the dotted line?” she teases, and my lawyer coughs in shock. He knows too well what I can afford.
Her expression changes when I produce a dimpled smile. “It’s all yours, love.”
She seems perplexed, and I imagine it has much to do with my changed demeanor. But once I’m given a job, I’ll stop at nothing to find my target. Especially this one.
She signs the dotted line, and I turn to the salesmen. “Done. Show her the plane.”
“There’s no need,” she says, raising her hand to stop them. “How soon can you sell it?”
“S-sell it?” my lawyer stutters, shooting me a look.
“It’s her plane.” I shrug, amused and not at all surprised.
“And how quickly can you sell it?” she demands.
My phone begins buzzing, and information threads through from Thomas.
I grimace as I step up behind Alina and kiss her on top of the head goodbye. She seems surprised but equally suspicious, and I simply explain, “I just got a new job. I’ll have my driver pick you up and return you home. Sorry, I can’t drive you myself.”
“That’s fine,” she replies, perplexed. “I can get an Uber.” She twists completely in her chair and says in a hushed tone, “Is everything okay?”
“Of course.” And then I look to my lawyer. “Whatever she asks for, provide it for her.”
My phone starts buzzing again, and Thomas’s name appears on the screen.
I don’t have a good feeling about this at all.
I answer it as I walk out, leaving Alina behind with a bet won and a new plane to sell.
