Chapter Divorce Long 131
Chapter 131
After Isabella left, Maggie found her book, but instead of returning to her room, she went to the second-floor window and sat by the floor-to-ceiling window to read.
Half an hour later, Grandma Wilson brought up a bowl of brewed herbal medicine. "Mag, so you're here."
Maggie put down the book and stood up to take the bowl. "Grandma, why did you bring it up yourself? You could have just asked someone to tell me to come downstairs for it." "You're in poor health, so it's better you don't move around too much."
Grandma Wilson sat down on another sofa, frowning. "I was going to ask Frank to bring it up, but he's in the study, typing away at the keyboard. It's the weekend, and I don't know what he's so busy with."
Earlier in the dining room, Franklin was teaching Julia about some project details. Maggie thought that Franklin must have felt it was easier to type on the computer, so that's why he went to the study. Thinking about this, Maggie silently picked up the bowl and began drinking the medicine.
Now that the weather was cold, the medicine was no longer hot. Maggie held the bowl and gulped it down quickly, finishing the entire bowl of bitter herbal medicine.

Grandma Wilson frowned as she watched. "Such bitter medicine, Maggie, take your time."
Maggie put the bowl down. "It's okay, not too bitter."
After rinsing her mouth with some water, Grandma Wilson handed her a piece of candy.
Maggie didn't eat it.
Dinner was almost ready, but Maggie had already eaten and couldn't eat more.
Grandma Wilson then went downstairs to have her dinner.
About half an hour later, Grandma Wilson and Isabella returned upstairs, but both had rather grim expressions.
Grandma Wilson's face was cold. "It's already this late, and Frank still went to the company? He's busy for nothing!"
Maggie had been so absorbed in her book that she hadn't noticed the sound of a car outside.
Franklin had left at night, likely because something had come up with Julia's project, and he had gone to help her handle it. Isabella pouted as she lay on Maggie's lap. "Daddy didn't take me with him."
Naturally, Franklin wouldn't take her.
If Franklin had taken her, the entire company would know that he was married and had such a big daughter.
What would that do to Julia's reputation?

He would never allow Julia to suffer public scrutiny.
Maggie pushed Isabella off her lap. "Your mom is still sick, go sit somewhere else."
Isabella muttered, "...Okay."
By the time it was past ten o'clock, Maggie was exhausted and went to bed after taking a bath.
The next morning, when she woke up, she realized that Franklin hadn't come back the previous night.
Doctor's medical skills were indeed quite impressive, and she was almost fully recovered.
Grandma Wilson had Doctor check on her again, and Doctor prescribed two more prescriptions for replenishing her and blood.
Maggie planned to go back to work, but Grandma Wilson wouldn't have it. She said if she didn't want to make the medicine herself, she could just drink it here tonight..
Seeing Grandma Wilson's determined expression, as if she wouldn't let her leave unless she agreed, Maggie reluctantly agreed.
Isabella asked her to take her to school, but Maggie refused. "Mom didn't bring the car back, maybe next time."
Isabella didn't care. "Then mom can take dad's car. I'll call dad, and he'll definitely agree."
Before Maggie could respond, Isabella called Franklin.
The phone was quickly answered..
Hearing the voice on the other end, Isabella almost instinctively wanted to call out the name, but when she saw Maggie looking over, she swallowed the words back and simply said, "It's nothing," before hanging up. Isabella thought she had hidden it well, but Maggie immediately realized that when the call was answered, Isabella had almost called out Julia's name.
This meant the person who had answered the phone was Julia.
Isabella lied in front of Maggie, feeling uneasy. "Mom, then can you take me to school next time?"
Maggie said, "Okay."
Maggie and Yancy went the same way.
They took the same car out.
Yancy had missed the early study session, but he was reviewing his lessons in the car.
Hearing his stumbling words, Maggie reminded him of a couple of words.
Yancy gave her a thumbs-up. "Sister-in-law, your memory is really good."
The car arrived at Yancy's school first.

Maggie had graduated from this high school as well.
Seeing the familiar campus, some past memories stirred in Maggie.
But there was no time to dwell on it. Yancy had already gotten out of the car.
He waved at Maggie. "Sister-in-law, goodbye!"
"Mm, goodbye."
The car merged back into the flow of traffic.
Back at Cole, Johnny pinched her check. "Why does your face look so bad? Did you get sick?"
"Mm, I had a high fever yesterday."
"A fever, and you're still coming to work today?"
"It's fine now, right?" Maggie said dismissively.
"Are we going to Wilson Tech later?"
Maggie was reviewing the latest test data as she spoke. "Sure."
"Okay, I'll come get you when we're ready."
"Mm."
Maggie noticed there was an issue with two sets of data and went over to ask Simon to make some adjustments.
She was about to sit down and look over the documents on her desk when Johnny came over to say they were ready to leave.
At Wilson Tech, they didn't waste much time chatting with the CEO and got straight into work mode.
After about an hour, most of the work was done, and there was no rush anymore. The CEO handed each of them a cup
coffee.

Johnny took a sip. "This coffee is pretty good, even better than what we had before. Looks like your company's welfare is getting better and better."
Speaking of this, the CEO changed his tone to a gossiping one. "Well, that's all thanks to Miss Brown."
Johnny rolled his eyes.
He hadn't expected Julia to be involved in this too.
He placed his coffee cup down.
And looked at Maggie.
