Revenge of the Scorned Witch

Chapter 7 — Loyalty

Having my daughters know who I really am and having them on my side is a bonus. Granted, I'm not going to have them help me torture their father, but I will give them a heads up when I decide to cause some chaos in their home so they can leave or go into their bedrooms. Just like I did last night. Thankfully the girls were out at one of their friend's house, and after I went home from a date with Ellis, I saw that Amanda had shown up a few minutes later, so I decided to summon some of my ghost friends to haunt them for a while. Brian had come in from his room when he heard me come home.

"Hey, Joy, how did your date go with the ex?" He teased. I just turned and gave him one of my fake laughs.

"It went fine if you consider Burger King a place to take a date," I mumbled, shaking my head. "Anyway, enough about my night, how did yours go?" I ask, knowing my friend had found out something from the look on his face. It's his tell-tale feature.

"Well, I did find out something about that ex-husband of yours." He says as he lets out a little laugh. He glances at the live video feed of Ellis's house when he sits next to me on the couch. "All that money he got from you, it didn't go to the children like it was supposed to. He took Amanda to Las Vegas, then he bought himself a piece of land and put a trailer house on it north of town. I got the address. I figure I'll go check it out tomorrow."

"I knew about the Vegas trip. My oldest told me about that. But the land thing, that is news. I think I'll go out with you in the morning and see what we can find out. Did you find out anything else?"

"No, not really just that he is a complete drunk, but you already knew that. I do have a buddy of mine checking on some things for me that he has better access to. He will let me know in a few days what he finds out." "That's great, did I tell you that I'm glad you're here to help me with this?" "After what you did for me in Cali, trust me, I don't think I could ever repay you."

I smile at my dear friend, then think back to my time in California when Bryan had busted me breaking into the FBI building. That's when I noticed he had a demonic entity attached to him. He knew that there was something wrong with him, so he had made a deal with me. He would let me go if I could help him with this entity that was destroying his life. After that day, he became like a brother to me and vowed to help me in any way he could, be it legal or not. I try to do the illegal stuff myself to keep him out of trouble.

I get up and give him a hug.

"Sweet dreams, my friend," I say, noticing that he is still wearing the amulet I gave him many years ago. I smile then turn and head to my bedroom.

"Hey, you do know you never called off your buddies next door, right?" Bryan called after me.

"Is Amanda still there?" I ask.

"Well, yes, she is." He answers.

I turn and look at him, "Well, there's your answer. She stays, the ghosts stay." I turn on my heels and go to bed.

The next morning I get up and about earlier than usual. I notice that Amanda's car is still there, so I activate the hex bag that I had placed in her car. All that it's going to do right now is disable the motor so it won't start. After my run, Bryan is waiting for me.

"Hey, Joy, let me ask you something. You are this smart, powerful

witch, why don't you just get rid of Ellis and Amanda?" Bryan asks as we get into his new pickup.

"Because he tortured me for thirteen years with his mind games and abuse, so he gets the same treatment now. I'm finding stuff on him because I want something to blackmail him with, and if we don't find anything, then I create it." I tell him. We make it to Ellis's other place. Bryan quickly does a sweep of the place while I pick the lock to see a lot of automatic weapons along with a stockpile of nonperishable food, army tents, and sleeping bags. I shake my head at the site "This is his doomsday stuff, or he plans on killing people and hiding out here," I say aloud.

Bryan walks over with his gloves on and picks up one of the rifles propped up beside the wall, which is fully loaded with cases of C4.

"I could get him for these right here." He says. "For all I know, he could be a terrorist and this is his hideout," Bryan stated. "Come on, you don't know for sure what he is doing with these things," I say.

"Come on, Joy, don't be naïve. You know the way I found this place was by looking in his safe. He bought everything with cash, even this mobile home has no mailing address. He has directions written down that I took a picture of. Besides, there are no utilities out here, either. Nowhere does his name even show up tied to this place except on the sale receipt from the people he bought it from, which was Amanda's family." Bryan argued.

"You're right," I admitted. "But we need to catch him out here."

"That's true, but we also need to get some pictures of all of this while we are here and some fingerprints also." He orders. So we set about taking pictures of all the rifles, tents, everything that is in the house, then we set out looking for fingerprints on the weapons and C4 boxes. We will take them to the Carter County Sheriff's office to see if they match Ellis's fingerprints or someone else's, like his sister or Amanda.

All I know is this was a good find to blackmail him for. "Maybe I'll try to see if he will bring me out here, or at least tell me about this place," I mention to Bryan on the way back home.

"Couldn't hurt, but just be extra careful bringing up the subject. If he is actually a terrorist, I don't need my best lady hurt." He says.

"I promise I'll be careful, maybe I'll get us an earwig so we can hear each other," I say.

"That would be a good idea, so I'll know if you are in trouble or not."

We pull up into my driveway to see Ellis working on Amanda's car while she is there beside him. Bryan and I walk over to see what is going on. When I get over to Ellis, I give him a kiss in front of everybody then give him a hug while whispering, "We so need to talk," in his ear.

Bryan walks up, "So what's wrong with this jalopy?"

"Not really sure, I think her motor froze up. It won't turn over or nothing." Ellis says.

"Really? Mind if I give it a shot?" Bryan says, getting into the car while I whisper the spell to turn off the hex. As he turns the key, the motors start right up. Bryan gets out of the car, acting like he is pissed off.

"So you're out here acting like the car won't start, but really you're just trying to hide the fact your cheating on my girl here!" Bryan fumes. Then he grabs my hand and walks me back to my house, where we watch everything unfold between them.

"Great, thanks to you, Joy thinks we had sex last night!" Ellis bellowed at Amanda.

"So what if she does?" Amanda croons. "She took you away from me, then had me locked up."

"You did break into her house, Amanda, and seriously, she didn't break us up, it was my decision. I was tired of us fighting all the time, plus the kids love her just like I do. She puts me in my place when I fuck up, unlike you." "Really!?!" Amanda yells. "Your kids do love me, and on top of that, me putting you in your place is what started our fights." She then turns around, gets into her car, and peals out of the driveway so fast she knocks down the neighbor's fence. I, in turn, call the police to report a reckless driver on my street, also telling them everything I saw and heard. Within minutes, the police were here seeing what had happened along with taking statements. All the while, Amanda was glaring at me, knowing that I was the one who had called the police on her. While everyone was distracted, I slipped a medicine bottle of Xanax into the driver floorboard of her car so they have to arrest her and take her to the hospital to have blood work done. Which will also buy me time to slip into her house to plant some more pills for when they search her home. That way they can put her away for a while. And I can have her out of my way.
