Chapter Richest Mogul 1302
Chapter 1302
Maisy was like a ticking time bomb. Although Jaune had reported her a few days back, the police needed concrete evidence, so it wasn’t something that could be resolved in a day or two.
The thought of her behavior left them feeling nauseated.
At the mention of Maisy, Steven’s tone turned i. “No updates for now. But don’t worry, she hasn’t tried to see Mom lately and won’t get a chance to. The security guards at the complex and Sullance Group know who she is and won’t let her get close. As for Charles and me, she probably realizes bothering us is pointless.”
With Maisy, there was no room for compassion.
“I still feel a bit uneasy. Maisy isn’t the type to stay put. You both need to stay on guard,” Skylar said.
“Alright. Don’t worry about things here. Just take care of yourself, and let me know if anything comes up.” Steven reassured her, his concern evident in his tone.
Skylar smiled. “Got it.”
Skylar and Steven chatted briefly, then hung up. Just then, Skylar noticed that the message she had sent Joe, which had gone unanswered for so long, was now marked as read. Although he hadn’t responded, it felt like a good sign to her.
Staring at the chat window, she wanted to say something but was suddenly at a loss for words. She wondered how much of what she had told him he had believed. Joe hadn’t reached out in the last couple of days, and she hadn’t tried to contact him either.
This gave him a chance to process all the shocking information in his own time.
After thinking it over, she decided to send a single photo from their wedding album without adding any message.
She had a feeling that he probably wouldn’t reply after seeing the photo, but letting him see pieces of his past might help in some way.
Over the past couple of days, she had been reading books on memory loss and ways to trigger memories. The methods were straightforward, but the results weren’t guaranteed. Still, she figured it was worth trying. It was better than doing nothing at all.
Although Skylar knew Joe likely wouldn’t respond, she couldn’t help but keep checking her phone. As she half–heartedly scanned her book and half–listened for any reply notification, there came a sharp knock at the door.
“Skye, it’s me,” Gloria said.
She immediately put her book down and opened the door. “Grandma.”
Chapter 107
Gloria stood there, looking pale, holding her phone tremblingly. On the screen was a news article from Jipsburg, with a picture of Joe and Rosa together.
Her hand shook slightly as she pointed at Joe’s Image. “Did you see this when you went back to Jipsburg? Have you heard of this Ned Sowle? He looks exactly like Joe.”
Skylar had known this day would come–that Gloria would stumble upon news about Joe. In fact, nearly everyone in Jipsburg had already heard about it, though most kept it to themselves to spare Gloria any heartbreak.
They were all worried that seeing Joe like this might stir painful memories for her. Skylar still felt that now wasn’t the right time to reveal the full truth.
So she nodded and said, “Yes, I did see him at a gala dinner while I was back. His name is Ned Sowle, and he does look a lot like Joe.”
Gloria’s eyes filled with tears, and she shook her head. “It’s not just a resemblance. They’re the same person. I’m his grandmother. He grew up with me–I’d know my grandson anywhere. That man is Joe.
“Skye, I’m not imagining things or going crazy with worry. I know he’s Joe. I don’t understand why he goes by Ned now, but he’s Joe–my Joe.”
