Secrets Of The Neglected Wife: When Her True Colors Shine

Chapter 39

"How could Allison be so heartless? She did this on purpose! My hair is ruined.

.

.

"

Melany's eyes brimmed with tears as she clutched at her shaved locks, feeling an overwhelming sense of loss.

She had meticulously maintained her long black hair to maintain her image as the epitome of sweetness and innocence, only to have it shattered by Allison.

"He's trying to kill me.

I'm sure of it," Melany cried, her sobs provoking an outpouring of compassion.

Her tears weren't just for show.

She felt genuinely threatened, convinced that Allison might resort to murder.

“He’s not that clever.

Calm down,” Colton reassured her, rubbing her back as his own heart raced in fear.

The chilling breeze and menacing intent seemed almost palpable, as if the knife had been pointed straight at his brain, ready to end his life.

The eerie sensation left him drenched in cold sweat.

Melany wasn’t comforted by Colton’s reassuring words.

She continued to sob, her voice shaking.

“But she really attacked us without a shred of mercy.

It’s too much.

I may be fine, but I shouldn’t have hurt you.

Weren’t you married once? Doesn’t she understand the effort you put in? Publicly humiliating yourself and jeopardizing our relations.

She doesn’t appreciate everything you do for the company, and now even Mr.

Lloyd might misunderstand our situation.

What are we going to do?”

Colton, already seething from the day's events, found his thoughts tangled in chaos.

“Enough,” he said, his patience wearing thin.

“What does Kellan really matter? Even without his support, the Stevens Group will endure.

I hear that the fourth International Perfumery Competition is being held next month, hosted by the Everett Group.

I’ll find a suitable time to get involved…”

Suddenly, an idea struck Colton, changing his mood.

“I’m sorry, Melany.

I went overboard today because of my mood,” he said softly, wiping the tears from her eyes.

“You’ve been through a lot.

I promise I’ll make it up to you.

Melany nodded, leaning into his embrace.

"It's okay, Colton.

I don't care, but I feel sorry for you.

"

Colton placed a tender kiss on her forehead.

“Melany, I remember you were the champion of the perfume contest a few years ago.

“Do you remember that?” Melany asked, surprised.

“Of course, I remember everything about you,” Colton said with a smile.

Before Melany could fully appreciate his words, Colton added, “So, could you help me this time? If you make it to the finals in this perfume contest, we might get sponsored by the Everett Group and maybe even meet their CEO.

Melany blinked as she took in his request.

But Colton's soft plea was irresistible, and she nodded weakly.

"I'll do what I can.

"

She recalled her first anonymous international competition.

Despite her efforts, she had not made it to the final.

Later, by chance, she discovered the basic recipe for the champion's perfume and spent almost two years perfecting it to obtain a product that was 80% similar.

The champion, known as Scarlet Snake, was an elderly person, in her late sixties, of unknown gender.

Scarlet Snake had disappeared in recent years and had not competed again.

Melany used Scarlet Snake's formula to produce a new concoction and easily won the title.

Scarlet Snake had been missing for years and Melany thought that reusing the formula would go unnoticed.

“I knew you were my savior.

With your skills, you’re sure to outshine everyone!” Colton smiled, pulling her closer.

Even without Kellan, Colton felt confident that he could secure a collaboration with the Everett Group.
