Chapter 199 –
Ivy went to work as usual after hanging up the phone.
The Hudson Yards.
As soon as Jimmy saw the hot topic, he was terrified and couldn't sleep, especially after seeing Wyatt's friend's rebuttal. He felt like it was all over. That was a bad friend!
They could never have wished for a better opportunity to protect Ivy.
If you didn't look too closely, the man who walked Ivy to the car looked exactly like Wyatt.
Jimmy did not hesitate and went upstairs to knock on the door, trembling. Wyatt had drowned himself in alcohol and had anger pent up inside.
He glared coldly at Jimmy as he opened the door. "Speak!"
Jimmy pulled out his phone. "You should see it for yourself, Mr. Reed..."
One minute... Two minutes... Five minutes had elapsed. Wyatt's expression became increasingly depressed. He was the main character, and he had failed with Ivy, but his double had already surpassed him? He received a lot of sympathy on the internet. It was more than just sympathy.
Everyone was engrossed in the drama.
Wyatt's heart was bitter and resentful. The phone shattered into pieces on the floor the next second.
Jimmy looked at the shattered remains of his phone in agony.
'It was a very expensive phone!
But he didn't dare to say anything. "Should we do something about it, Mr. Reed?"
Wyatt's eyes were red with rage. "Go have it withdrawn! I'm not interested in seeing anything about it!"
Jimmy quickly responded by calling Ken, who was more experienced in dealing with such situations. Wyatt returned to his room and pulled out his phone as Duke called.
"Wyatt, don't be offended by what I'm about to tell you."
"Who is that person who is interfering online?" Wyatt inquired.
"Did you find out?" Duke had a soft spot for the guy. He was well aware of Wyatt's feelings for Ivy.
Their friend was "kind" enough to clear Wyatt's name, but she put Ivy in an awkward position as a result. Furthermore, it made Wyatt appear as if he wanted to save himself by betraying Ivy.
How could Wyatt stand something like this? As soon as Duke realized this, he attempted to intervene. He was, however, a step too late.
"Tell me!" Wyatt's voice was icy, cold, and bitter.
Duke pressed his lips together. "It's Alec Nowitzki..."
Wyatt would find out even if Duke didn't tell him.
Wyatt hung up the phone and dialed Ken's number. As he instructed, his mind was clear.
"At once, announce that we are ceasing all cooperation with Nowitzki."
For a brief moment, Ken became immobile. "Certainly, Mr. Reed."
So much happened in such a short period.
Ken deduced that it was related to what happened the night before.
Wyatt rubbed the corners of his lips calmly. His eyes were filled with ruthlessness.
The situation on the internet quickly changed.
Blaze Hall, the company's official account, issued a statement. Lysander was a new artist who had signed with Glamour Entertainment and was about to make his New York debut on a talent show in which Ivy had invested. His encounter with Ivy last night was entirely coincidental. In a nutshell, Ivy's involvement in this was completely erased. There was no need to explain because there were so many people present. The conversation gradually shifted. If Lysander were just Wyatt's replacement, everyone would become less obsessed. Reed Corporation also did not respond, so the discussion was not as rigorous. It was just that everyone was taken aback by Lysander's debut. They began cursing Glamour Entertainment for creating hype solely for financial gain. They only pointed the finger at the unscrupulous media because no one knew Glamour Entertainment was under Morgan Corporation. Blaze sat in his office, irritated and cursing. Anyway, he was certain to profit from this!
Ivy did not officially respond to this from the start, as if she did not take this minor matter seriously.
The discussion, which had gradually died down, erupted again before the end of the day. Wyatt Reed had acquired the family business of Alec Nowitzki.
It was difficult not to connect the two events that occurred on the same day.
After further investigation, everyone discovered that Alec Nowitzki was the person who posted the photo to clear Wyatt's name.
Everyone's speculation, however, was futile. Reed Corporation did not skip any steps in the process of acquiring a small business. Many people in the circle thought Wyatt's methods were too ruthless.
There were numerous complaints about his handling of the situation.
Alec only posted a photo, but Wyatt drove the Nowitzki to extinction in a fit of rage. No one, however, could quell Wyatt's rage. Everyone could learn from this.
Lysander's name gradually became known to the public as the matter progressed.
Even though everyone has a negative first impression of Lysander, many people still support him because he has Wyatt Reed's domineering face. Blaze Hall also took advantage of Lysander's popularity, organizing numerous activities for him and convincing him to do live streaming in his spare time. ABC Corporation.
The project's scheduled meetings were critical and required the presence of all four parties.
Liam Saver, Wyatt Reed, and Marco Seely were already in the conference room when Ivy arrived.
When they saw her approaching, their eyes were calm, as if they had no idea she had been a frequent visitor on the hot topics lately.
No one knew if Wyatt and Marco sat opposite each other with an empty seat beside them on purpose.
Ivy swept a glance and sat beside Marco with little thought or expression. When Liam noticed this, he gave Wyatt a thoughtful look.
Marco handed her the meeting materials with care.
"We should congratulate Mr. Reed on the recovery of his leg."
Wyatt, who had just mustered the courage to speak to Ivy, was rendered speechless by that. His eyes sank as he cast a cold stare at Marco.
'Does he intend to do this?' Wyatt pondered.
"Yes, indeed," Liam said.
Ivy pursed her lips, but her eyes were filled with mockery and indifference. "Mr. Reed, congratulations."
'This idiot liar!' she thought.
Wyatt could barely keep his face straight and nodded slightly. "Thank you."
"In fact, I recently learned that many Al enthusiasts worldwide want to invest in this project. It's mostly for everyone's benefit, but their circumstances vary," Marco explained.
"A large amount of capital will undoubtedly push our project to an admirable scale, but if progress does not go smoothly, it will have a devastating ending and will be more difficult to restart. I'm not in favor of it because we need to protect our core technology," Liam replied.
Wyatt clenched his teeth. "They're just interested in our project and want to kick us out. Even if we want to inject capital, we must consider all factors. Not to mention, we haven't yet arrived at this point." Marco agreed with a nod.
Ivy raised her brows and stated that she had no opinion on the matter. She and Marco interacted more throughout the meeting and developed a very subtle understanding of one another.
They would understand what the other party was trying to say with a single glance.
Wyatt was left out and was resentful about it.
Marco leaned over and spoke softly to Ivy as soon as the meeting ended.
"Ms. Morgan, let's go out to lunch. Do you want anything to eat?"
Before Ivy could respond, Liam said, "I want to join."
Wyatt added his voice. "Me as well."
"All right, then, go ahead. I still have work to do," Ivy explained.
The air became immobile for a brief moment.
Ivy gradually packed her belongings and left.
Liam noticed that the atmosphere was off and turned to look at Marco.
"You could have invited us along right now, Mr. Seely. Only inviting Ms. Morgan is deceptive. You appear to be interested in dating her."
Marco gave a light smile and looked at Wyatt. "Indeed, I do."
