The Fortune-Telling Heiress

Chapter 261

Chapter 261

Wanda's eyes reddened further as she quickly lowered her head. Madison was so kind, yet they were still ungrateful toward her.

She placed a few buns in front of Madison, her voice just loud enough to be heard. "Ms. Locke, you have a stomach condition. The doctor said you must eat on time for every meal, or you'll end up with stomach pain.

"No matter how important something is, it's never more important than your

ir own health," Wanda added.

Tanya shifted uncomfortably. "Your stomach hasn't healed yet?"

Before Madison could respond, Wanda interjected firmly, "You've never had stomach issues, so you don't know how hard they are to cure. A stomach condition needs years of care. It's not like magic. No one recovers that easily." Tanya was struck dumb.

Rebecca shot Wanda a glare, turning. "You're just a maid Maddie hired. How dare you speak like that? Maddie, aren't you going to do something about this?"

Madison replied calmly, "Wanda isn't a maid."

Wanda added, "Even if I were, I'm still paid by Ms. Locke. Anyone else. Well, they're not my responsibility."

Rebecca's expression grew darker with anger.

Tanya stayed quiet but said, "just eat. We'll talk when you're done." she pulled Rebecca back to sit on the couch.

The fury on her face faded as she turned to glance at Madison in the dining area. For the first time, she noticed how much weight Madison had lost. She no longer looked as healthy and full of color as she once had.

"If you're feeling overwhelmed by what you're doing, you don't have to keep it up. Our family can afford to take care of you, Tanya said softly.

Madison's response was brief. "I'm not overwhelmed."

Tanya sighed inwardly at the dry response.

It wasn't that she didn't want to be close to her daughter. It was that Madison was like a cold, hard stone that never seemed to warm up.

If only Madison could be more like Rebecca, their relationship could be as good as hers with Rebecca. It only Madison were a little kinder, a bit sotter, and more understanding

There was no way their relationship would be so strained.

Once Madison finished eating, she moved to an armchair and sat down. "What's this about?

Tanya, trying to bridge the gap between them, said in a warm tone, "You remember when you upset Rayson? Your father was worried it would affect the Locke family's future here in Deatropolis, so he wanted you to apologize. But now, that's no longer necessary." Tanya smiled as she continued, "The Halls intervened. Together with the Locke family, they've secured some major projects. With the support of the Halls, the Locke family will surely establish a foothold here."

Madison was a bit surprised. It had only been a few days, and Sebastian had already closed these deals.

She didn't know much about business, but she understood that partnerships. From the initial talks to signing contracts, these things weren't typically finalized in just a few days. The Hall family must have made significant concessions.

Madison silently calculated how to repay this favor. Tanya continued, still smiling. "Your father said this is a big deal for the Locke family. Since Becky's and your birthday is approaching, he has decided to throw a grand birthday party for both of you.

"I also be a chance for you to make your formal debut!" Tanya said happily.

they introduced Madison at a social event, it ended in disaster. Hosting a proper one now was meant to make it up to her.

Madison glanced at Rebecca, who was sitting across from her. Rebecca gave her a sweet smile.

Yara floated over and whispered into Madison's ear, "Is this it? Is this the fateful crisis you mentioned
