Chapter 26
Emmanuel's eyes widened as he looked at Kiarra and then he looked back at Zion. He had grey eyes and like most vampires he was pale.
Kiara wondered what the hell was Zion doing? She tried to get his attention but he really seemed indifferent to the fact that Emmanuel was a full blown vampire before them. She felt slightly uneasy but she was trusting Zion. "I can't goddam believe it. You brought a woman along with you and she isn't just a regular she wolf?!" he shouted in amazement as if he couldn't comprehend it, mind blown. Emmanuel was very high spirited. "Don't make a spectacle out of it Manny" Zion rumbled.
"I'm just saying" He shook his head hard in disbelief "This is very unlike you and she is very beautiful. The old one has nothing on her without a doubt."
His eyes roved over her and Zion growled threateningly.
Emanuel raised both hands and laughed. Kiarra wondered who was the old one. She looked at him but he refused to meet her eyes. That means he had a mate before and it all made sense. Obviously it didn't end well because here they were. "Well come on in! Susanna is gonna love this plus we haven't seen you in ages!"
Inside the restaurant was nice and spacious. It was decorated with red checkered tiles and the rest white and basic with random pictures of fish and other foods hanging on the walls. The place was packed with humans. They were ushered to two seats at the back
with a nice window view and she slid in the cool tube seat around the table. All the seats in the restaurant were tube seats and not movable around their tables. Across the table from her had no seat and it accommodated his wheelchair perfectly. It looked like it had been that way for years now and she felt like Emmanuel made it that way to accommodate Zion. This means that they've known each other for years.
A short mature lady came and greeted them loudly quickly hugging Zion and cooing over Kiarra. She felt very welcome and her unease had dissipated but she was still wary.
"We haven't seen you in forever! Still very handsome. I'm so glad to see you and this time you brought a woman" she wiggled her brows "Now I'm nervous cause I hope she likes the food."
Susanna was a darling and a vampire as well. She soon took our orders after chatting for a bit and hustled off.
"They adore you." she told Zion watching Susanna hurry to another table of waiting customers.
"Mhmm" he responded shortly. He wanted to tell her they adored her too. More than that they were fawning over her. You'd think they thought he was going to turn a hermit.
She sipped the cool water and stared across at him. He shifted a bit. He was starting to look uncomfortable and she knew why. Zion was dying to touch her, his wolf was restless ever since he'd touch her in his room. It had felt his mate and he wanted more. "Do you want me to sit on your lap?"
"Excuse me?" he barked at her.
"You're lucky I'm a good person or I would let you suffer." she said smugly.
Kiarra got up and walked around the table to slide onto his lap and Zion sighed in relief. She was warm and soft and she smelled like heaven. He enjoyed the feel of her body against his. Damn it felt good. He leaned in to the crook of her neck and inhaled deeply feeling her shiver a bit from the gesture and he eased back.
"I'm sorry" he whispered in her ear. She half turned to him." It must have been hard on you especially being Lycan when I rejected you like that. I of all people should know better when it comes to rejection"
His green eyes were sincere and she nodded.
"Okay"
"
Okay?" he asked her. That's it? She definitely was not letting him get away with it that easily. That means he'd have to work harder? "Okay" she said her voice firm.
He laughed and she could feel vibrations from his body through hers. She was completely engulfed by him and she felt safe and oddly at home. She could also feel the hard big outline of him against her core and she unconsciously clenched feeling her body unbearably heat up. He was clearly without a doubt fully functioning down there. She scooted forward and cleared her throat..
"So are you going to tell me why we're at a vampire restaurant and most importantly why you're so comfortable with them?"
He held her in his arms staring at her. One arm was gently caressing her travelling up higher and higher to her bosom. She was on fire and her breathing increased.
"Zion" she pleaded with him.
Zion looked down and quickly removed his hand.
"Sorry"
He really needed to pay attention.
"The vampires?" she questioned him again.
Vampires and werewolves did not mix well so they tend not to exist in the same area. Werewolves hunted vampires and it was a whole thing but all in all it was strange for vampires to be living so close to werewolves much less friendly with them. "I used to be a handful when I was younger" his deep voice rumbled in her ear. His face was serious.
This was definitely new.
"As in?"
"I was mostly confined to a hospital for a year due to my legs when I was eight. By the time I was eleven I wanted to live life. I didn't believe a wheel chair was my limitation." "So you went out and caused trouble" she nodded.
"Having your father be the Alpha had major perks until you venture outside of the town lines. I picked up that I could do a lot of things and get away with it. I used being in a wheelchair whenever I got into problems with my parents to gain sympathy points. One day I got into a fight with another wolf and he almost beat my ass but Emmanuel luckily saved me. I thought he would have called my father but he didn't. Told me since I had so much free time I could wash his dishes or he'd call my pops and if my mom got a call from vampires then she definitely would lock my ass up for eternity."
"So you washed the dishes and became friends."
"Yeah basically for like a week. Turns out they're actually pretty decent and I just kept coming back every now and then."
He paused and looked at her his green eyes softening. They were enchanting, pulling her in.
"This is what you do with the girls?"
"What?"
"Get them to sit on your lap and then stare at them with those green eyes. Then you take them to bed."
He smiled a dazzling smile at her.
"You want to know my sexual history and activities?"
Kiarra's eyes widened. "No I do not"
Zion laughed and looked at her slightly flustered state. He ran a hand through her hair, running his finger through the long thick dark brown hair lightly tugging at the roots.
"Have you ever had sex Anastasia?"
"No"
"Do you want to have sex Anastasia?" he asked tauntingly.
"Oh my gosh. Behave"
He burst out laughing and she blushed.
"I will get up"
"Okay I'll behave."
He didn't say anything more than that other than indicating that she choose something to eat.
"Fried chicken and waffles?" she asked him looking at her bright red and white menu confused. This was the most American dish she saw on the menu and she couldn't imagine the two of them being combined together.
"What else looks strange?" he asked her and she looked at the well detailed menu.
"Chicken-fried steak and the rib sandwich"
Susanna came back to take their order and he ordered all the food she didn't know.
"I can't eat all of that" she whispered to him.
"It's fine. It's more for you to try than to actually eat."
Susanna came back with all the food and they chattered in between with him teasing her occasionally. She wanted to ask him some more questions about his life but she refrained for now. He was just opening up a bit to her and she didn't want to push too hard and have him shut down on her. He ordered a regular burger and fries and didn't complain when she ate some of his fries and even made her eat some of his burger. It was actually really sweet of him. He ate the rest of their food like it was nothing and she felt a little sad they would be heading back. She wanted the day to last forever. It felt good just being with him. She knew the moment they went back he would separate from her and she would probably see rare glimpses of him unless they ran into each other or she ran him down. Zion saw the frown on her face and cradled her closer.
"Are you ok?"
Kiarra flashed a small smile.
"Yeah I'm fine."
"Okay then. Let's go Ana"
She fought against everything in her to tell him her name wasn't Ana.
