When They Beg, I Rise!

Chapter 124

Lemira's expression was the picture of calm, "I don't think there's much to talk about."

"Lemmy, I know you're upset. Alaric really crossed the line today. I'll make it right for you. Are you really going to let it drive a wedge between you and the whole family?" Lemira couldn't help but laugh.

Didn't the whole family always take Evelina's side?

She replied coolly, "Doesn't make a difference to me."

As Lemira walked to the curb to hail a cab, she saw a familiar car pull up in front of her.

She knew who it was.

The window rolled down, and Orion's gaze met hers, "Get in."

Lemira opened the passenger door and got in. Just as she closed the door, Lucian approached, "Lemmy, I know you've had a rough day. How about we catch up some other time?" Lemira pressed her lips together, "We'll see."

Orion hit the gas and they drove away, leaving Lucian awkwardly standing there. He turned to the Reapers' coach, "Michel, Lemmy's not going to sign with your team. You might as well give up." "All this confidence from the Langston family, why so scared of a competition? Never seen such blatant favoritism."

Michel, however, was looking in the direction Lemira had left.

If he wasn't mistaken, was that kid driving the car?

No wonder Lemira was so untouchable!

But why would he show up here, personally picking up a girl? All signs pointed to something more.

---

Inside the car, Lemira sneaked a glance at the man next to her, "How come you're here?"

"Just passing by."

Orion's long fingers rested on the steering wheel, his expression slightly awkward, "Did you have fun at the party?" "Pretty fun."

Lemira thought of Alaric's downfall and her mood significantly improved.

Orion glanced at her, aware of what had unfolded at the party, hence his decision to pick her up.

He had thought she would be affected, but she was stronger than he had imagined.

Lemira's phone pinged with a message from Asher.

She didn't even check it, assuming it was just more moral lecturing.

They never got tired of it, but she was fed up.

Lemira put down her phone, "Let's go for a barbecue."

"Sure, where do you wanna go?"

"There's one behind our school that's really good. I used to sneak out to eat there, always felt like twas doing something forbidden, worrying the smell would stick to my clothes."

Orion followed her lead, "Why sneak out?"

"Because Lucian wouldn't let me eat junk food, said it's bad for my health."

Lemira trailed off.

Orion noticed, "Decided to leave the Langston family, no regrets?" "No regrets."

Lemira looked down, "They're usually pretty decent to me. But when it comes to something important, like choosing a schoof or anything involving Evelina, they always expect me to compromise and give in."

She didn't care for such small kindnesses.

Nor did she want to be guilt-tripped by them.

Orion's lips curved slightly, it seemed his worries were for naught.

They stopped outside the school's back entrance.

Orion frowned at the hygiene around but settled down nonetheless.

Lemira ordered a bunch of her

The owner glanced at Orion and then at Lemira, "What does your boyfriend want?"

Lemira paused, boyfriend?
