Why deceive me??

Chapter 68. The Bidding Day As Arrived

"Alan, what time are you supposed to go and get the documents for the villa"? Damon asked.

I just got a call from there and was asked to come for it right away. Alan said.

Alan took a few steps away and returned.

Oh, Boss, lest I forget, are you not interested in the bidding war.? Alan asked with a smile on his face.

"Who says I'm not interested in the bidding war for Laker's industries"?

Next week is gonna be a little interesting for the business world Damon added.

Ok, Alan said and made his way out.

"Damon " are you going to compete for the bidding of the shares at Laker's industries next week.?

"Ronnie asked".

Of course Ronnie... Damon said holding me closer to himself.

I thought you were just joking about it with Mr. Cameron.

No!! I need to place that fatso in his rightful position.

"Why do you ask my Ronnie"?...he said and brought his face close to mine for a kiss when his phone started to buzz, Alan on the phone.

"Boss, we've obtained ownership of the villa in downtown the city," Alan reported respectfully over the phone.

Damon nonchalantly answered him because he already knew nobody was bidding for the villa.

"Let me ask you, where can I buy a diamond ring and other good jewelry in town" Damon suddenly asked.

"Uhm... there are many jewelry stores in the city you can buy any design from, but there's going to be an auction tonight at the Upper Scale Art Gallery in the middle of the city. And I heard from a reliable source that lots of rare and precious jewelry and ornaments will be put up for auction." Alan replied.

"Okay, I see"

At exactly 8 pm Damon arrived at the Upper Scale Art Gallery. At the entrance, a beautiful assistant hurried towards him.

"Welcome, Mr. Damon," the lady said warmly with a smile on her face.

Damon raised his brows at the lady, she was no other person than Donovan, the waitress who spiked Ronnies drink.

"How have you been," Damon inquired.

"All thanks to you sir Damon, for giving me another chance to start my life on a clean slate," she replied.

"It so happens that I was designated to welcome guests into the gallery," she said smiling, and asked Damon to follow her inside.

"Mr. Damon, would you love to sit at the forefront," she asked as they walked.

"Just take me inside and don't bother about arranging a sit for me," Damon said.

She took him straight to the hall the auction will be held and turned and left with another word.

Immediately Damon stepped inside the hall, he was greeted with a sarcastic comment.

"Almighty Damon is here to be placed in his rightful space," Mr. Cameron said smiling sarcastically.

"I never thought of seeing you fatso here," Damon replied sarcastically.

"I just hope you won't run out of money when the bidding starts," Mr. Cameron said amidst laughter.

"I am a mobile bank and currency," Damon replied sarcastically.

The banter was still ongoing between the both of them when a loud voice suddenly called for attention.

"Attention please, ladies and gentlemen you're all welcome to Upper Scale Art Gallery where your desires are our priorities." The announcer said.

Before long the auction started and many other big shots started showing off.

"Damon, are you scared out of ya wits after seeing others compete in wealth," Mr. Cameron said sarcastically.

"Lions don't compete with chickens over respect," Damon replied sarcastically.

"We will get to know who's the lion and who's the chicken very soon," Mr. Cameron said with a frown.

Immediately after he said what was on his mind, the announcer brought out a piece of fancy and rare jewelry and said the bidding for this piece starts at 2.5 million dollars. Mr. Cameron looked at Damon and start the bidding at 2.6.

Everyone's elsewhere to stupefy because of how the bidding started.

The next moment, a voice suddenly broke the silence from the back.

"I will be bidding for 3 million dollars," the voice said.

Everyone instantly turn and looked in the direction of the voice only to see a calm and smiling Damon.

Mr. Cameron increased the bidding to 5.3 million.

The announcer said,

"the bidding going one's, going twice and sold"

This Mariano piece is sold to Mr. Cameron.

Everyone's gaze where fixed on him because that was the highest amount paid on any jewelry tonight.

Mr. Cameron was so elated because all eye's where on him and every tongue was speaking of him.

"I don't believe someone could cough out 5.3 million for a piece of jewelry"

Another said

"I just wish I was the one."

Mr. Cameron looked at Damon and was like can you hear all that and even compete with me.

The auction went on and on and many big shots were fired up competing with each other's but they nondear to look at Mr. Cameron for fear of offending him.

"Damon, are you just here to observe and make an inventory of big shots," Mr. Cameron said smiling sarcastically.

"Have not seen any big shots yet," Damon replied sarcastically.

Mr. Cameron was so infuriated by my words that he almost puked out blood.

"Keep your pride up till every piece is auctioned then we will see where you will hide your ugly face," Mr. Cameron said frowning.

At that very moment, a glistening necklace and bracelet were placed on display about to be auctioned.

"This piece is called Memory Autumn Leaves & Dream of Autumn Leaves, one has 14.54 carat fancy vivid blue diamond and the other 16 carats fancy intense pink diamond." The bidding price for this piece starts at 15.2 million dollars. The announcer said smiling.

Everyone was thrown in awe because of the information about the pieces on display.

Many big shots started throwing their weight trying to secure the piece.

"15.3"

"15.8"

"20.1"

"20.1 going one's going twice" as the announcer was about to close the deal, Mr. Cameron suddenly broke the silence by bidding.

"I will go for 29.6 million," he said with a raised shoulder.

The hall became uncontrollable with noises of awe and strong admiration for him.

I was seated quietly observing his egocentric behavior and thought to myself is high time to steal the limelight from him.

The announcer was about to close the deal for 29.6 but I obstructed him again but this time by a large margin.

"I will go for 60.3 million," I said smiling.

Everyone's attention was redirected toward me and the hall was in dead silence before they regained their voices roaring in exclamation. "Who is this greenhorn who just shuts Mr. Cameron down" a voice suddenly broke the exclamations.
