Her Revenge Contract

Chapter 10

Xavier's

POV

"I guess you have company, old boy..." he said, and playfully hit my shoulder...

I lifted my gaze towards the door, finding the most beautiful creature I had ever laid eyes on...

My heart must have stopped for a second or three as I stared at Kate from the other side of the restaurant...

"She is one beautiful she-wolf..." he commented.

"Mine!" I growled under my breath, and Carlo took a step away from my table.

"She's your mate?" He asked, bewildered. And I nodded my head slowly, trying to control my temper, "Isn't she the heiress...and she is human..?" He whispered and his gaze snapped back at me. "Yes," I answered and got up from my chair, "Kate is human, Ray tried to connect with her wolf, yet I still believe she is more than just a wolf who can't shift..."

"Does she know?" He squeezed another question at the same time Kate saw me.

"I don't know..." I answered, "We haven't spoken about it and we have more than enough on our plate for now..."

He nodded his head, "Let me know if you need some help..."

He then left my side and walked toward Kate, taking her hand in his... I knew it was just the way Carlo was, yet everything inside me wanted to rip him apart for just smiling at her.

"Calm down!" Ray huffed, "This is Carlo you are talking about... you know he only means well..."

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and smiled as Kate walked closer.

She had a white sundress with a big yellow flower print on it. Her auburn hair was tied in a messy bun, and her makeup complemented her delicate features.

"F*ck!" I mentally swore she was even more gorgeous than I could remember.

Kate's intoxicating lavender scent enveloped around me, and I struggled to focus.

"Hi," she said, searching my gaze.

"H-h-hi," I answered, and she chuckled, "Have a seat..."

Goddess, why am I so nervous?

I helped Kate into her seat, then took mine...

We both went on reading through the menu of the restaurant...

"So?" I asked after a moment of silence, "Did you have any trouble or leave the house?"

"John asked me where I was going..." she answered, and her green eyes became even darker.

"And? What did you tell him?" I asked, interested to know.

"That I am going out with you..." she said and a smile played on her lips. She was enjoying this game...

"How did he react?"

"He pouted like a three-year-old..." she answered and lifted her gaze from the menu, "and he blamed the omega for serving my food cold..."Visit Job nib.com to read the complete chapters for free. "She is not, she followed Erika's instructions..."

"Does John know that?"

"If he does, he is doing a very good job at hiding it..."

The rest of our conversation went smoothly until we both had filled our bellies.

"Have you decided what you will do after you find out the truth?" I asked and handed her the contract we discussed a few days ago.

I didn't care about the contract, it was Kate's idea, yet, I agreed to it hoping that she would recognize me as her mate sooner rather than later...

"All I care about is to ensure they would never be able to get their paws on any of the shares that belong to my father... I am writing my shares over to you..."

"Kate stop!" I argued.

"No Xavier," she stopped me, "if something happens to me, I need to ensure the company and my pack will still be in good hands... they are all I have..."

Her gaze found mine, and her eyes pleaded with me, and for once I could understand that everything she was doing wasn't for herself... but for the ones she loved...

"Promise me..." she said, and swallowed hard, "that we will find a way to unravel the truth and bring justice to my parents' murderers... while we keep the pack and the company save..."

Katherine's POV

It was around 6 pm when I arrived home. I had a wonderful lunch date with Xavier and a soft smile played on my lips.

I was happy and for once I felt more relaxed...

Now that I have signed a contract with Xavier, I believe that everything will work out the way it should...

A sly smile played at the corner of my lips... There was now no way that John or Rose would be able to get their hands on any of the shares my father left for me... it didn't matter what they were planning to do to me...

I made sure that every bit of my father's shares would go directly to Xavier and his company, and to ensure John couldn't take the Alpha position, I wrote the Alpha position over to Xavier too...

Xavier wasn't happy about the amendments I made to the contract, he only wanted ten percent of my father's existing shares to help me... yet, to me, the contract between Xavier and I was insurance that Xavier would help me bring my parents' murderers to justice... After our beautiful and delicious Italian meal, Xavier and I took a stroll down to the park close by...

I haven't been in a park since I was a little kid and being there made me feel alive and like a kid again...

"So..." Xavier started the next list of questions, as he pushed the swing, "...have you ever taken your wolf form?"

I knew he would ask me the question sooner rather than later.

I ignored the question while I enjoyed the wind moving around me and my auburn hair fluttering around my face...

I assumed that this feeling might be the closest I would ever get to feeling how a wolf would feel when running through the forest...

Xavier waited for my answer patiently, while I thought of a way to answer him.

I sighed and slowed the swing.

Xavier must have sensed that the subject was sensitive to me and he came around swing.

He knitted his dark eyebrows together and his eyes softened when he read my face.

"I have never taken my beast form..." I whispered, embarrassed.

"I'm sorry..." he said, and bent down, searching my gaze.

"Don't be," I answered stubbornly, "it is because of that, that my family and pack believe that I am weak and a liability..."

"You are many things, Katherine," Xavier said sternly, "but you are not weak..."

"A pack wouldn't respect a ruler who wasn't even capable of shifting into her wolf form!" I lashed out and sighed, shaking my head.

"I will never be able to run with the wind, or feel the damp earth beneath my paws..." I growled through gritted teeth.

"I have accepted that I would never be able to shift, yet, I made a promise to myself, that even if I was just half a wolf, I would fight what was right... I will protect my pack until my heart stops beating... I will prove to my people that I don't need to have that special ability to be a good and fair leader..." I said, and Xavier nodded his head.

"Getting the pack's respect, trust and support will be difficult and hard work..." Xavier said, "Yet, not impossible..."

Xavier hesitated for a second, before he continued, "... hard work has never killed anyone, and if you are willing to take that extra mile and put extra effort into convincing them... you will reach your goal..."

I stared at Xavier for a moment, his words were wise, yet warm.

Did he live through a similar scenario?

The sun had started to hang low against the horizon, lighting up the sky in different colors of pink and orange...

It was quite magical... and romantic...

My cheeks heated up as my mind raced...

Xavier's closeness was like a breath of fresh air... I couldn't get enough of him...

His whole being was like a drug to me; his voice sent shivers to my core, and I needed to control myself, not give in to my urges...

Oh, Goddess...

I was drawn to Xavier like a moth to a flame... He was everything I ever wanted and needed in a mate... this man... this wolf... was doing things to me that no other man was capable of doing to me... "Come on," Xavier held out his hand, "we better go..."

"So soon?" I asked, feeling a bit disappointed.

Xavier smiled as he got up.

"I don't want to, but I have an appointment with your so-called uncle later..."

Mischief played in Xavier's blue eyes, and I could see he was up to something.

"Very well," I answered, "will you tell me about your meeting later..?"

"I will," he answered, smiling, and helped me from the swing.

We walked in silence to the exit of the park. Xavier's truck was parked on the curb.

I lifted my gaze and knitted my eyebrows, asking a silent question, and Xavier understood my confusion and laughed out loud.

"I asked the driver to bring the truck and car around," he said and gestured to the vehicles.

"Oh," I answered and came to a stop, "I guess this is goodbye then?"

"Except if you want me to take you home?" He said and another smile followed with a glint of excitement.

"No," I shook my head, "you have an important meeting... with my so-called uncle..."

Xavier's face fell, but he didn't comment on anything in return. He seemed a bit annoyed about the meeting.

"I will call you soon," Xavier said and bent down and kissed my cheek.

My face heated up, leaving me red, while I felt my p*ssy clench and soak my panties...

I shyly lifted my gaze, and bit my lip as I found Xavier's gaze...

"Come on..." he whispered, "if you don't leave now, I might just change my mind and..."

"And what?" I challenged.

Xavier swallowed hard, and his voice became even huskier...

"I might just throw you over my shoulder..."

"And then what..?" A smile played at the corner of my lips... and Xavier licked his lips, chuckled and bent forward toward my ear.

"I can smell your arousal, Kate," he whispered, "and it is driving my wolf insane..."

I closed my eyes for a mere second, taking a deep breath, and concentrating on getting my hormones under control... when I opened my eyes, Xavier stood before me, his face inches from mine and his eyes black... Sh*t, his wolf must have taken control...

His closeness was sucking me in and I swallowed hard, feeling his breath whispered against my skin.

Was he about to kiss me?
