Chapter 301
Chapter 301
"Madison is my sister. If she loses even a strand of hair, I'll take it seriously." Harvey's voice was cold and hard. "Someone slashed her with a four-inch cut and beat her so badly she's covered in bruises. I'd bring in every expert in the country to treat her if I could." Jason was silent. His lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but he didn't dare. He had a feeling that if he spoke up, Harvey would either throw him out or punch him. Harvey was terrifying when angry.
Harvey's imposing presence was overwhelming. William and the others quietly took their seats on the couch.
Knowing his son well, William cleared his throat and said, "Harvey, we understand you're upset about what happened to Maddie. But this time, Maddie made a mistake."
Harvey responded, "There's no point in debating right or wrong right now. We need to focus on finding a solution."
William frowned. "How can we ignore what's right and wrong?"
"Right or wrong only matters to those who care about it," Harvey replied, looking at William. "Dad, let's just focus on solving the problem."
He had considered how his parents would react when he presented the evidence against Rebecca. But no matter how much proof was laid out, they didn't blame Rebecca at all. In fact, they seemed to think she was the one who was wronged.
To them, right and wrong didn't matter-only Rebecca did. Since there was no right or wrong in their eyes, there was nothing left to discuss.
Seeing Harvey's expression, William's temper flared. He sternly said, "This incident has affected Locke Corporation too much. Madison must apologize. All that money needs to be returned.
"On top of that, she has to promise never to get involved with livestreaming again. She'll come home, and I'll have your mother teach her properly. She should learn to be well-behaved, like Becky."
William let out a heavy sigh before continuing, "This has gotten out of hand. People online keep exposing what Madison did. Do you know what she's mixed up in? She helped a woman scam people. That woman not only conned a lot of men, but she's also linked to the Alex case that's all over the news. "Harvey, you tell me, how can we not deal with this?"
Harvey listened closely to William before saying, "Maddie is the victim here, so she shouldn't have to apologize. She didn't deceive anyone, so there's nothing to return. She streams because she enjoys it, so she shouldn't have to stop.
"Plus, it's impossible for her to go back to the Locke family and be like Rebecca."
With each point he made, William's expression grew darker until his face was completely set in anger.
Then, Harvey added, "As for the woman you mentioned, I'll get clarification from Maddie." The ward fell silent after Harvey spoke.
William scoffed. "You say you want to discuss solutions, yet you refuse to agree to anything."
Harvey replied, "If your solution means putting Maddie in a tough spot, I won't agree to it."
"Harvey, how is that putting Maddie in a tough spot? She made a mistake, so she needs to face the consequences!" Ethan was frustrated with Harvey's defense of Madison.
Harvey shot back, "I've said it before-right and wrong only matter to those who care about them."
William raised a hand to silence Ethan, who was about to speak, and turned to Harvey. "So, what do you suggest we do? Don't you care about our family's reputation? What about Locke Corporation's reputation? Do you have any idea how much the stocks have dropped today?" William was furious now. "Don't you care about any of this? Are you really going to let Maddie make your sister and two brothers pay for her mistakes? Harvey, you can't think only about Maddie! You need to consider the rest of the Locke family too."
Tanya's eyes were red from crying. She said, "Harvey, all they want is for Maddie to apologize and stop livestreaming. It's such a simple request. Why can't she agree to that?"
"Absolutely not!" Harvey replied firmly. "Agreeing means publicly admitting that Maddie is at fault. It means admitting that she's a fraud and that she scammed people." William slammed his hand on the table. "Then what do you suggest? I won't let Maddie ruin our family and Locke Corporation!"
"I'll take care of these issues," Harvey replied.
"Take care of them? How?" William stood up, his frustration boiling over. "How many days do you need? Do you realize how much one more day affects the Locke family?" Before Harvey could answer, Maddie, who had been quietly sitting on the hospital bed, suddenly spoke up, "Do you think this is considered resolved?"
