Chapter 1940
Hannah hadn’t anticipated that misfortune would strike Brodie so quickly.
Two days after Melina was taken into police custody, the Moreno family declared insolvency, which turned out to be a trap for the many companies that had previously partnered with them.
These businesses not only failed to benefit from this business conflict but also found themselves on the verge of collapse due to their association with the Morenos.
Early that morning, after receiving a call from Yosef, Bryson rushed to the office to handle the urgent matters that awaited him.
Sleeping deeply, Hannah didn’t stir until her phone rang.
“Hello?”
“Yes… What is it, Maloney?”
Upon hearing Maloney’s words, Hannah immediately sat upright, becoming more alert.
“How could he have been poisoned? I understand… I’ll check for a flight today and head back immediately!”
As soon as the call ended, Hannah tried reaching Bryson repeatedly, but his line was constantly engaged.
She quickly changed her clothes and made her way downstairs.
“Hannah,” called out Grace, who was watching TV with Franco in the living room.
Hearing the sound of footsteps on the stairs, she turned to see Hannah.
“You’re up.
I’ll ask Milly to warm up some breakfast for you.
”
Shaking her head, Hannah replied, “No, thank you, Grace.
Has your brother left for the office?”
With a nod, Grace replied, “Yes, he left early in a rush.
I think something urgent came up at work.
Are you looking for him?”
Grace pulled out her phone and asked, “Should I give him a call?”
Hannah shook her head and said, “I already tried, but he didn’t answer.
He must be tied up.
”
At that moment, Dotson entered from the garden with a grave expression.
The moment their eyes met, Hannah realized that Dotson was aware of the situation with the Compton family.
“Grace, tell your brother I need to fly out of the country today for an urgent matter.
I don’t have time to explain.
”
Hannah patted Grace’s shoulder before approaching Franco.
“Mr.
Mitchell, it’s an emergency.
I have to leave the country.
Please take care of yourself while I’m away.
”
“What’s going on? Is there anything we can do? Can it wait until tomorrow? Maybe you should wait for Bryson to return?” Franco suggested seriously.
Recalling her phone call with Maloney, Hannah shook her head and replied, “No, I must catch the earliest flight today.
”
Seeing that she was in a hurry, Franco sensed something terrible had happened and said, “Alright, be careful.
I’ll explain everything to Bryson.
”
“Thank you, Mr.
Mitchell,” Hannah said with a grateful smile.
She was about to leave with Dotson when Grace’s voice stopped her.
