Swept Into a Fairytale Marriage

Chapter Swept Into a Fairytale Marriage 68

Chapter 68 Whirlwind Marriages Are More Reliable

“Whirlwind marriages are more reliable. You can say what’s on your mind without worrying about years of history,” Farrah replied, sipping her coffee. “Our goals are clear. There are no feelings involved. We’re just finding a long–term partner.”

“You didn’t fall in love at first sight?” Riley was shocked. ‘No feelings involved? But humans have emotions.”

“It’s… complicated, but I actually like this arrangement, Farrah said, knowing it would be hard to explain. “Does he have a stable job? How’s his financial situation? Is he generous with you?” Riley asked, concerned.

“Money’s not an issue. He gave me a card to use as I please. We’re planning to have kids, and his grandpa really likes me. I think… our relationship will only get better with time,” Farrah answered with a smile.

“What about your mother–in–law? Riley asked curiously, “How does she treat you?”

Thinking of Sheila, Farrah chuckled. “She’s practically non–existent. She has zero interest in me, doesn’t live with us, and hasn’t said a word to me all the time we’ve been married.”

‘She doesn’t like you?”

“She… Farrah thought about how Sheila did not even like her own son. Even though they were close, Farrah did not tell Riley the whole truth, not wanting to embarrass Adrian.

She i

just smiled and stated, “It’s fine. It’s not about whether she likes or dislikes me. She’s just… hands–off.

After catching up over coffee for half an hour, offering each other advice and encouragement, Farrah took Riley shopping. She noticed Riley was still wearing clothes from their college days, and they were already pilling.

Farrah felt a pang in her heart. “Riley, even married women with kids should take care of themselves. If you’re too frugal to spend his money, someday, another woman might spend it for him. Men like pretty women, and besides, Fairytale Cottage is starting to turn a profit.”

“Kids are expensive. Formula, baby food, diapers–it all adds up. I feel bad for him, so I haven’t been shopping in ages,” Riley explained. “But with his mom coming to help with the baby, I’m planning to go back to work. I’ll contribute to the household and find myself again.”

Farrah gave her a thumbs–up. “That’s a brilliant idea! fully support your return to the journalism–scene. You’ll carve out your own space. Riley, you’re winning at life. You’ve had a baby, and you’re pursuing your career. I should learn from you.”

“When will you bring your guy to meet me?” Riley ..

asked

“No rush. We’ll have a chance later.” Farrah then added self–deprecatingly, “We’re not that close yet. Let us get to know each other first.”

Riley could not help but laugh. “What about you? Is being a designer stressful?”

“A bit, but then again, just being alive is pretty stressful

Farrah then used Adrian’s card to buy clothes for herself and Riley.

Wendiera Marruges Are More Relable

In his home study, Adrian donned a black shirt as he took part in a video conference. He carried himself with grace, speaking fluently in a foreign language as he led the international meeting. Midway through the meeting, his phone kept pinging with notifications–a series of expense messages.

The eight transactions all ranged between a hundred dollars and 500 dollars, with none exceeding 500 dollars. Adrian frowned slightly, thinking that this was hardly befitting the status of being his wife.

If this were what she meant by maxing out his card, she needed a better dictionary and example. Moreover, it seemed that this tasteless woman was buying cheap clothes again.

Adrian put down his phone and continued leading the meeting, communicating with the executives from the branch office on the other end of the video call. Though young, his decisions were always followed without question.

After parting ways with Riley, Farrah was about to call a cab home when she received a call from Jodie. She stopped on a comer of the street. Listening to the voice on the phone, her frown deepened. “Okay, Mom. Don’t cry! I’ll be right there!” Farrah said urgently.
